After years of censorship by Canada Customs, Little Sisters Book & Art Emporium won a historic Supreme Court case in 2000. It transformed queer literature from “obscene” to essential, defending our right to access the stories that shape us.
25 Years Since the Modernization of Benefits and Obligations Act
In 2000, Canada transformed over 60 federal laws to finally recognize same-sex couples for pensions and taxes. It wasn’t yet marriage equality, but it was a massive leap toward dignity and legal protection for our community.
